Education: Nasarawa accesses intervention funds for infrastructure projects

The Nasarawa state government has accessed the 2023 intervention funds for infrastructural and Development projects for UBE schools

The Executive Chairman of Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board, Muhammad Dan Azumi stated this as the Board opened a technical bid for the award of contracts under the UBEC/NSG intervention funds for the year 2023 matching grant at the SUBEB Headquarters Shendam Road Lafia.

Performing the opening ceremony, he said the technical bid was in line with Governor Abdullahi Sule’s resolve to make education better in the state.

Azumi urged contractors for quality work as the technical bids for the award of contract open.

The Executive Chairman, who was represented by Permanent Member 1, Muhammad Bariki, urged contractors who will be successful through the process to be thorough in executing their jobs.

He said this event is made possible through the collaborative efforts of the UBEC and Nasarawa state Government who jointly have released the 2023 grants for numerous infrastructural projects.

Azumi lamented that the quick succession on which Nasarawa state has accessed UBEC funds within the 1st four years of Abdullahi Sule’s administration is rare.

“Apart from the collaborative efforts with UBEC, the Nasarawa state government on its own has committed huge resources for infrastructural development of basic education in the state as evident in the recent procurement of plastic chairs and tables for distribution to our basic education schools. 

“This occasion of public bids opening that we are here to witness is significant in many ways. First and foremost it is a demonstration of our resolve as a government to implement projects and programmes with utmost transparency”.

The Executive Chairman thanked the Governor for his relentless efforts towards primary education.

He said with this resolve, Nasarawa state is updated with its records at the UBEC headquarters, Abuja.

He appealed to successful contractors to observe quality in what they do particularly construction and renovations, as the Board will mark any contractor down should they fall short of the standard.

“We shall utilize every kobo sent to us, as education is the best legacy we can bequeath to our children,” he said.

Expressing appreciation for the process which saw many contractors come on board, Chief Executive Officer, Awe Contractors Nig. Ltd, Hajiya Amina Muhammad, on behalf of the contractors, expressed delight at the occasion while appreciating the state Governor for the opportunity to work with Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board to enable the board to stand tall.

She appealed to stakeholders to synergies for future reference not minding the financial implications.
