Educationist advises President-Elect to set up high powered committee for total rehabilitation of Education

The incoming administration of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has been called upon to set up a high-powered committee for total rehabilitation in order to save the dilapidated Educational sector in Nigeria.

 

This call was made by the President, the Hijirah Organisation of Nigeria and former National Hajj Commissioner NAHCON, Professor Badmus Yusuf during an interview with a Voice Of Nigeria correspondent.

 

Badmus,a foremost Academician who is the incumbent Chairman of the Governing Council, Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies, Ilorin noted that the incoming administration needs to rescue the dilapidated educational sector of the country.

 

He said, “The incoming administration should ensure the total rehabilitation of the educational sector by setting up a high-powered committee that will look at our educational system with a view to identifying the wrongs that have been perpetrated many years back”.

 

Badmus also urged the proposed committee to ensure the incoming government looks into settling the eight months’ salary arrears owed the University lecturers by the federal government

 

He said, “bring out the blueprint which would give credit to the Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Administration and more importantly with a view to settling the eight-month salary arrears that the Federal Government have been owing to university lecturers”.

 

While expressing his dismay at the hike in the tuition of some government-owned universities in the country which had made the Nigerian students call for nationwide protest urged the soon-to-be-inaugurated government to forestall such.

 

He further urged the President-elect  to allow people who are tested in the field to assist him in resuscitating the education system, saying, “You should allow people around you who are tested and trusted in the field of education to  advise you so that you can start on the right note.”
