EFCC FC Loses Aiteo Cup To NAF On Penalties

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s football team, EFCC FC, lost the 2021 FCT Aiteo Cup 3-1 on penalties to the football team of the Nigerian Air Force, NAF FC, at the Area 3 Sports Centre, Abuja, Nigeria.

The entertaining encounter which kicked-off with both sides missing several goal scoring opportunities. The first half was dominated by EFCC FC, but they could not break down the resilient defence of the Nigerian Air Force boys.

However, NAF FC showed more grit at the resumption of play after the interval. With the scores 0-0  at the end of regulation time, the match officials opted for a penalty shootout to separate the sides.

In the penalty shootout, NAF FC converted three of its spot kicks, while EFCC FC could only convert one. It was a dramatic end to the ambition of EFCC FC to retain the Cup they had won in 2019 at the expense of FRSC FC.

Captain of the team, Icha Emmanuel thanked the Commission for its support, assuring that they will not let the commission down.

The Executive Chairman EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, represented by the Director, Legal and Prosecution, Chile Okoroma, thanked the team for their fighting spirit. He urged them not to be discouraged, but continue the good work as the commission was proud of their achievement.
