Eid Al-Adha: Muslims, Christians in Kaduna pray for peace

Muslims and Christians in Kaduna State have prayed for peace, love, unity and religious tolerance in the country

The General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, Pastor Yohanna Buru who led a delegation of some Christians to the Eid Al-Adha prayer ground said, this is the second time they are coming to the central mosque to join Muslims to pray for peace and stability in the country.

He said this was an opportunity for Christians to meet, dialogue and interact with Muslims to promote mutual understanding among them.

According to him, during Christmas celebrations, thousands of Muslims which include (Sunni, Shiat and Tijjaniya sects) from 19 northern states of Nigeria usually joined him and other Christians to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ to promote peace and unity.

“The mosque committee has invited him for the second time to join them, and this time he came with some Christians, with the sole aim of promoting peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance.”

Pastor Buru who delivered lectures shortly after the prayers by the Muslims, stressed the need for both adherence to the two religions to promote the culture of peace and harmony,

“We must remember that we are one family under God and worshipping the same God. We all have holy books sent from one God (Qur’an and bible)

“We are the family of Adam and Eve and hence the to live in peace and harmony with all mankind irrespective of his tribe, culture, race, colour, regions and continent.”

He then called on all Nigerians home and abroad to embrace peace, unity and love among one another, saying Nigeria can achieve its full potential if Nigerians put aside their differences and work together to build a stronger, more united through peace building.

According to him, We felicitate with sultan of sokoto Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, sheikh Ibrahim Yakubu Elzazzaky, sheick Ahmed Mahmud Gumi, and all Islamic scholars round the world on the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration. 

“We wish our Muslim brothers and sisters a happy Eid-el-Kabir celebration and pray that Almighty God will continue to bless our nation with peace, unity, and prosperity.”

Responding, sheikh Haliru Marayu, one of the top Islamic scholars present at the event expressed happiness over the visit and prayed that Muslims and Christians would always live in peace and harmony.

Also, one of the committee members of the Eid Al-Adha ground organizer, Sunusi Surajo said, Kaduna state is leading in the act of promoting peace and religious tolerance throughout the country

We pray for more peace and unity across all 36 of Nigerian.” 

The former Governor of the Central Bank and the Emir of Kano, Sunusi Lamido Sunusi led the prayer at the Eid Al-Adha prayer ground.
