Eid al-Fitr: Gombe Governor Calls For Unity, Resilience

The Gombe State Governor, and Chairman of Northern States Governors’ Forum, Muhammadu Yahaya has felicitated Muslims as they join others across the globe to celebrate the Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
In a goodwill message, Governor Yahaya urged the faithful to uphold the teachings and values instilled during Ramadan, integrating them into their daily lives for the the betterment of the society.
He rallied the people of the state towards collective prayer, unity and resilience amidst prevailing economic challenges, giving the assurances that the current difficulties were transient as better days awaits Nigerians in the future.
The Governor enjoined Muslims to sustain the devotion and other acts of worship observed during the holy month as well as imbibe the lessons learnt during Tafsir sessions for the good of the religion, society and humanity.
He also emphasized on the importance of moral integrity in combating societal ills.
Eid al-fitr festival connotes sacrifice, selflessness, love and obedience to the tenets of Islam. I therefore enjoin us to draw enduring lessons from the Ramadan and show love to one another as well as promote harmony and peaceful coexistence among our diverse people,” Governor Yahaya said.
He  reiterated his administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and security, vowing not to tolerate any actions that jeopardize the prevailing tranquility.
He emphasised the importance of delivering democracy dividends, pledging that his administration will focus on uplifting the state and its people.
Governor Yahaya encouraged residents to take advantage of various empowerment initiatives of the Nigerian and State governments to enhance their economic well-being.
He also underscored the importance of farming in driving economic growth and ensuring food security, urging citizens to seize opportunities in agriculture and direct their efforts towards productive ventures, demonstrating confidence in the resilience of the people of Gombe State.
Governor Yahaya called upon traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community heads to continue to support the government in upholding peace and security for the socio-economic advancement of the state.
He assured them of his commitment to implementing development projects and programmes.
