Security agencies in Kano State, North West Nigeria, have stepped up preparations to guarantee a peaceful and smooth Eid-el-Fitr celebration, urging residents to act responsibly throughout the festive period.

In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the police disclosed that comprehensive security arrangements have been put in place in collaboration with the state government and other security agencies to maintain law and order before, during, and after the festivities.

The Command called on residents to remain law-abiding, respect the rights of others, and comply with all security directives, particularly those relating to restricted activities during the celebration.

Residents were further encouraged to cooperate with security agencies and report any suspicious activities through designated emergency lines.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State has deployed over 3,400 personnel across strategic locations to strengthen security during the Sallah period.

The State Commandant, Hassan Mohammed Agalama, said the deployment targets Eid praying grounds, markets, recreational centres, motor parks, and other vulnerable points as part of proactive measures to prevent security breaches.

He added that critical infrastructure such as power installations, water facilities, and telecommunications masts are receiving special protection, while intelligence and surveillance operations have been reinforced.

Rapid response teams have also been placed on high alert to address emergencies promptly.

The NSCDC reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with other security agencies to ensure public safety, urging residents to remain vigilant and celebrate peacefully.
