Eid-Al-Fitr: Matawalle Felicitates Muslims, Honours Nigeria’s Armed Forces
Nokai Origin, Abuja
The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, has extended his felicitations to the Muslim faithful across the country and to the members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), who continue to stand resolutely in defence of the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
This message comes against the backdrop of Muslims in Nigeria and around the world marking the end of fasting in Ramadan and celebrating the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
In a statement signed by the Personal Assistant to the minister on Media, Ahmad Dan-Wudil, Matawalle said Eid al-Fitr, which signifies the completion of the holy month of Ramadan, is not only a time of celebration but also an opportunity for reflection and prayers.
“As we observe this festival, we pay tribute to our gallant soldiers, airmen, sailors, and officers’ courage and commitment to securing peace, stability, and national unity.
“Under the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Nigeria has witnessed unprecedented military successes in the ongoing fight against insurgency, banditry, terrorism, and other security threats.”
According to Matawalle, the Armed Forces, through strategic operations, enhanced intelligence gathering, and improved inter-agency collaboration, have continued to dismantle terrorist enclaves, neutralize threats, and restore order in volatile regions.
These gains, he said, have been bolstered by reforms, enhanced troop welfare, and the procurement of advanced military assets, all aimed at fortifying our national security architecture.
Dr. Matawalle used the occasion to salute the gallantry of troops, particularly those deployed in operational theaters across the country. He said their sacrifices and resilience embody the highest ideals of patriotism and service to the nation.
He also acknowledged the unwavering support of President Tinubu in ensuring that the Nigerian military remains well-equipped, well-trained, and mission-ready to confront emerging security challenges.
The minister further urged all Nigerians to remain steadfast in their support for the Armed Forces and security agencies, emphasizing that security is a collective responsibility.
He called on citizens to foster unity, cooperation, and vigilance while continuing to provide critical intelligence that aids security operations.
Dr. Matawalle further appealed to religious and traditional leaders to use this period to pray fervently for the peace, security, and prosperity of Nigeria.
“As we celebrate Eid al-Fitr, let us reaffirm our commitment to national unity, peace, and development. The Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, remains steadfast in its resolve to provide a safer, stronger, and more prosperous Nigeria for all. Together, with renewed hope and collective effort, we shall consolidate on our gains and build a future of lasting security and stability.”
Birthday Felicitation
The minister also extended congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the occasion of his 73rd birthday.
He commended the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in the realm of national security, which has been bolstered by the unwavering dedication of the Nigerian Military.
Dr. Matawalle, in a statement from the ministry, acknowledged the president’s exceptional leadership and decisive actions that have significantly enhanced the safety and security of Nigerians across the nation in a remarkably short period.
He stated, “President Tinubu has taken bold and transformative steps that are already yielding positive results in our collective pursuit of peace and safety.”
The minister emphasized that history will undoubtedly recognize President Tinubu for his courageous and intentional efforts to reset and reposition the country across various sectors for a brighter future. The positive outcomes of these initiatives are becoming increasingly evident.
“On this special occasion of his birthday,” Dr. Matawalle continued, “I, on behalf of my family, the Ministry of Defence, and all Nigerians, wish the President long life, good health, and the fortitude to continue making the courageous decisions necessary for our nation’s development during this pivotal time.
“Your transformative policies strengthen our faith in Nigeria. Mr. President, I salute your excellence,” he stated.
