The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN has felicitated the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and all Muslims in the country on the celebration of Moulid an-Nabiy, the birthday of Prophet Mohammed, Peace Be Unto Him.
This was contained in a statement signed by CAN’s General Secretary, Joseph Bade Daramola Esq.
He said the birthday of the Prophet Mohammed symbolises peaceful co-existence, code of conduct and boldness to live holy lives on earth.
Accordingly, he noted that “CAN felicitates with his Eminence, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, the Sultanate Council, all the Muslim leaders, and all Muslims nationwide.”
The Christian body also seized the opportunity to urge the government at all levels to double their efforts in stopping the menace of terrorism and banditry in Nigeria.
Political Will
The government must exercise the political will to the end insurgency in the country.
“We rejoice with you all and pray that God will continue to keep us one in His love, benevolence and mercy. It is also our prayer that the good Lord will bring back peace and tranquillity to this country,” he said.
He also prayed for unity, economic growth and development of Nigeria.
To commemorate the muslims celebration of Prophet Muhammad birthday, a public holiday was declared by the government on Tuesday.
Various Islamic organisations have organised series of lectures across the country on the significance of Prophet Muhammad’s birth.
Islamic centers across the country also organised match past for school children at designated centers.
