The Kano State Police Command says, ban on all Durbar-related activities is still in force while reaffirming its commitment to public safety ahead of the 2025 Eid-El-Kabir celebrations.
The Police public Relations officer SP Abdullahi Kiyawa in a statement said, the Command, in collaboration with sister security agencies, resolved that, the initial ban imposed during the 2025 Eid-El-Fitr celebrations, to remain in effect.
According to the Command, the decision follows credible intelligence reports suggesting potential plots by sponsored groups and miscreants to use the traditional festivities as a cover to incite unrest.
“The threats, although significantly checked, remain potent,” the Command stated, adding that “the move is part of broader efforts to maintain law and order across Kano during the religious celebration.”
“As part of the enhanced security protocols, the following restrictions will be strictly enforced;
No horse or animal riding (Kilisa), no car racing or reckless driving, no illegal possession or display of firearms or weapons, no carrying of suspicious or dangerous objects.”
The Police urged parents and guardians to monitor their children closely and prevent them from being manipulated by disruptive elements.
“Law enforcement, the Command warned, will not hesitate to take firm action against any individual or group found violating these directives.”
Residents are also encouraged to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and contribute to a safe environment during the festivities.”
The Police called on the public to use the occasion to pray for continued peace in Kano and the nation at large with Special remembrance to athletes from the state who tragically lost their lives while returning from the recent National Sports Festival.
The Command wished all residents a joyful and secure Eid-El-Kabir celebration.
