Ekiti Decides: Group calls for violence free polls

An election observation group in Nigeria, Situation Room, has called on relevant stakeholders to ensure a violence-free gubernatorial election in Ekiti State.

The convener of the group, Mr. James Ugochukwu in a press briefing in Ado Ekiti, the State capital noted that expectations were high for the electoral body to conduct the elections in a peaceful and transparent manner that would satisfy the yielings of the people.

He however described the political environment in Ekiti State South-west Nigeria as peaceful ahead of the Saturday governorship election in the State.

Mr. Ugochukwu emphasised that the situation room would be holding the commission accountable for its commitment and assurances in the electoral processes.

He however urged the security agencies not to infringe in the rights of the the voters during the election but ensure adequate protection of lives and property of the people during the election.

Voice of Nigeria reports that accreditation and voting on the election day is expected to begin at 8.30am local time and close at 2.30pm.

All voters on queue between the speculated time shall be allowed to vote.
