Ekiti State Governor and the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship aspirant, Biodun Oyebanji, has lauded the party’s screening committee for a “thorough and transparent” process.
Governor Oyebanji expressed confidence that it would safeguard the APC from future crises and ensure a credible primary election.
Speaking after appearing before the panel in Abuja, Governor Oyebanji stressed that democracy thrives on participation and urged party members to remain peaceful, and reaffirmed his preparedness for the October 27 primary.
Governor Oyebanji called on the APC leadership to provide a level playing field for all aspirants.
“This is only the screening stage. Next comes the conference committee, then the election proper.
“Whoever emerges must be supported, because it is not just about the aspirants, it is about returning our party to power and serving the people,” he said.
The screening, which saw Governor Oyebanji as the first aspirant to appear, included a review of credentials behind closed doors and is expected to conclude with the panel reviewing all four aspirants.
Prominent party leaders and political associates accompanied him to the venue.
