His wife, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, who made the pledge on the governor’s behalf, said the gesture was borne out of compassion toward ensuring the well-being of students living with disabilities in the state.

She also revealed that the gesture, which was worth N1.5m, was in fulfilment of his earlier promise to support the students with needed facilities.

The governor’s wife said her visit was to ensure an on-the-spot assessment of the school’s facilities and to determine the welfare and well-being of the special students. She also urged the students to see themselves as God’s special gifts created to fulfil a divine purpose.

While encouraging the students to reciprocate the present administration’s love and kindness by being obedient and by paying more attention to their education, Dr. Oyebanji charged the teachers and other workers to continue to show love to the students, promising that there would be regular visits to the schools to ensure that proper attention is given to the students.

She said: “You are special and dear to the heart of the governor and the government of the state. That is why particular attention is being paid to your welfare and well-being. I want you to reciprocate this by focusing on your education, which will prepare you for a great future,” she added.
