El Clasico: Aubameyang Shines As Barcelona Thrashes Real Madrid
Gabonese International Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice and recorded an assist as Barcelona thrashed rivals Real Madrid 4-0, in another heated episode of La Liga’s El Clasico at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid.
The hosts started with an unfamiliar Luka Modric in attack, with Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr. supporting. Barcelona had Aubameyang, Ferran Torres and Ousmane Dembele as the front-three. Real Madrid were on its best Clasico run in years, having won the last five meetings in all competitions and started the match 15 points clear of Barcelona.
Aubameyang opened the scoring in the 29th minute with a diving header following a fine run and cross from Dembele.
Real Madrid, who were without injured talisman Karim Benzema, looked to lost without the Frenchman. Barcelona defender Araujo doubled the lead when heading home from another Dembele cross.
Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti changed the shape of his team at the halftime break to give his team a glimmer of hope. However, Barcelona were soon 3-0 up when Torres fired the ball into the after a beautiful assist from the Gabonese international.
Barcelona kept up the pressure on Real Madrid goalkeeper Courtois and Aubameyang grabbed his second in the 51st minute. His goal was originally disallowed for Torres being offside in the build-up, but VAR overturned the decision in favour of Xavi’s men.
Aubameyang has now scored nine goals in his 11 appearances since arriving from Arsenal.

It was a famous night for Barcelona, who looked rejuvenated and revitalised under the leadership of coach Xavi. Barcelona sent out a clear message to the world, ripping Real Madrid apart in a thrilling encounter.
Real Madrid are back in action after the international break with a trip to Celta Vigo on April 2nd. They will then face Chelsea in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final first-leg four days later.
Barcelona will host Sevilla on April 3rd.
