Election: Minister inaugurates Police operational assets
Nigeria’s Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Dingyadi has inaugurated the distribution of critical operational assets to Police Tactical Units and formations for election security across the country.
This is contained in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the minister’s Press Secretary, Mr Osaigbovo Ehisienmen.
He said the distribution of the assets was to guarantee collective security before, during and after the March 11 elections in line with international best practices.
Dingyadi said the Federal Government recently procured anti-riot equipment, rubber bullets and other security assets in line with the resolve of President Muhammadu Buhari to bequeath credible elections in the country.
The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment towards deepening the capacity of Nigeria’s Police through reforms, personnel development and provision of critical policing assets.
He applauded the performance of the Nigeria Police during the presidential and National Assembly elections and assured better outings in the coming polls.
Dingyadi warned criminal elements and merchants of electoral violence to denounce such enterprise or be prepared to face the full wrath of the law.
