President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived in Katsina State to participate in Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections.
The Nigerian Leader, who touched down at the Umaru Yar’Adua International airport, Katsina around 16:40 GMT, was received by the State Governor, Aminu Masari and some top officials of the State government.
The President was accompanied by his wife Aisha, other members of the first family and his personal aides.
Shortly after arrival, the President inspected a guard of honor mounted by men of the Nigerian Army and Air Force, who are serving in the State.
He was later airlifted by a chopper to his hometown Daura, where he will cast his vote on Saturday.
Meanwhile, arrangements are being concluded for Saturday’s exercise, as security has been beefed up in all parts of the State.
On Thursday afternoon, at 14: 25 GMT a cargo aircraft arrived at the Umaru Yar’Adua International airport with sensitive election materials, which were immediately moved to the Katsina branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
