Elections: Police Deploy over 7,000 Personnel to Edo State

The Edo State Police Command has deployed over 7,000 personnel to cover the 2023 general elections across the state.

Mr. Chidi Nwabuzor, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Edo State Police Command, disclosed this in an interview with Voice of Nigeria at the Police Command in Edo state, Southern Nigeria.

‘The Edo State Command is very ready for the 2023 general elections.
‘The Command has deployed over 7,000 personnel across the state for the protection of lives and properties and to reduce crimes, among others. These officers have been trained by the Inspector General of Police to face the election challenges.
‘The officers have been issued election guidelines and pocket book to checkmate election offences when they are on the field,’ he disclosed.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) said the Command was working with other sister agencies such as youth leaders, religious leaders, traditional leaders, stakeholders, and consultative committee on election security to ensure that the general elections in the state is peaceful, fair and credible.
Mr. Chidi Nwabuzor, also advised Edo state citizens, especially the youths to shun violence:
‘I want to tell the good people of Edo State that violence does not pay.
‘Violence can not bring any good result,’ he advised.
He encouraged all Edo citizens, especially those aged 18 years and above to come out in their numbers to cast their votes for candidates of their choice.
