Electricity: Nasarawa State earmarks N2.23 billion

The Nasarawa State Government has earmarked the sum of N2.23billion for the electrification of rural communities across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state.

The Commissioner of Finance, Budget, and Planning, Mr Daniel Agyeno stated this during the 2022 budget breakdown in Lafia, the state capital.

According to him, the 2022 budget of N110.8 billion tagged “Budget of Sustainable Transformation” was aimed at sustaining the pace of development in the state.

He explained that despite the economic challenges facing the state, the administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule would continue to pursue policies, programs, and projects towards meeting the needs of the people of the state.

“We are going to embark on rural electrification across the 13 local government areas of the state, and this project would gulp the sum of N2.23 billion.

“The present administration has attached high premium to accountability and transparency in the management of public funds.

“I, therefore, urge all the accounting officers of the ministries, departments, and agencies in the state to be guided by the appropriation law and ensure that all revenue due to the state government are properly collected and accounted for, the commissioner added.

The Commissioner further disclosed that the state government also earmarked the sum of N2.8 billion for the construction of Urban and rural roads across the state which was captured in the 2022 budget.
