Emir of Ilorin Urges Titleholders To Uphold Integrity, Selflessness

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari has charged traditional title holders in the state to uphold the values of selflessness, integrity and community service in the discharge of their duties in their various abodes.
The Emir gave the charge while presiding over the official turbaning of a prominent businessman, Pharmacist
and philanthropist, Alhaji Yakubu Olayiwola Gobir as the 10th Sarkin Gobir of Ilorin Emirate.
The Monarch urged title holders to ensure that they endeavor that they unite their people and guide against anything that will disrupt the relative peace enjoyed in Ilorin Emirate.
He also enjoined them not to be confrontational with the constituted authorities for meaningful development to strive.
Sulu-Gambari disclosed that before the appointment of Yakubu Gobir as the 10th Sarkin Gobir of Ilorin Emirate, he was earlier honoured with the title of Madawaki of Ilorin which is an honorary title due to his commitment to his people.
According to him, the new traditional title holder has consistently demonstrated commitment to community development and the upliftment of the less privileged.
The Emir said with his new role, he must ensure that the unity of the Gobir Clan and promote the rich cultural heritage of the Ilorin Emirate and described him as a trusted and kind person.
“You have been useful and supportive to the people especially the poor.
I want to encourage you to continue with the good work that you are known for, remain steadfast and make sure that you unite all the members of Gobir dynasty of Ilorin origin globally , he charged Gobir.
According to the Emir, “Alhaji Yakubu Gobir is a true son of Ilorin, and I am proud of him.
He has consistently demonstrated a commitment to community development and the upliftment of the less privileged. With this new role, you must unite the Gobir clan and continue to promote the rich cultural heritage of this Emirate. May Almighty Allah guide you aright.”
In a brief interview with newsmen, Alhaji Yakubu Gobir promised to remain loyal to the Emir and the constituted authorities of the Ilorin Emirate.
The New Sarkin Gobir expressed appreciation to the Emir, the people of the Emirate and the Gobir Clan for considering him for the position and pledged to continue to improve on their welfare.
Among the prominent figures who graced the occasion was Prof. Ali Ahmad (SAN), former Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly and former House of Representatives member, who described the newly turbaned Sarkin Gobir as a distinguished cultural leader and devout Muslim.
According to him, he deserves this honor due to his proven pedigree, character, and hard work.
The turbaning ceremony attracted several dignitaries from within and beyond Kwara State, including Hon. Moshood Mustapha (Wakilin Ngeri), Dr. Alimi AbdulRazaq (elder brother of the Kwara State Governor and Mutawali Ngeri of Ilorin), Alhaji Abubakar Sulu-Gambari (Chiroma of Ilorin), Senator Abdullahi Gobir (Sokoto State), Alhaji Abdulkadir Attahiru Adamu Manko (Chairman, HAM Foundation), Professor Aisha Gobir, Professor Olaolu Ali (SAN), Hon. Ganiyu Cook Olododo (Mai Gaskiya Ilorin), Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu (Kwara State Commissioner for Education), Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim (Sarkin Hausawa of Kwara State), Alhaji Lukman Mustapha (Chairman, Board of Directors, Sobi FM), Professor Suleiman Abubakar Amana, and Alhaji Tajudeen AbdulKadir (The Makama of Lafiaji), among others.
