Employment Directorate Begins Environment Beatification Training In Ebonyi

The National Directorate of Employment, NDE in Ebonyi State Southeast Nigeria has flagged off the Orientation Ceremony of 2023 Trainees of the Environmental Beatification Training Scheme EBTS, Graduate Attachment Programme, GAP, and Enviroprenuership Development Scheme, EDS.
The Flag off Ceremony was done by the NDE Director-General Malam Abubaka Nuhu in conjunction with the Governor of Ebonyi State, Mr. Francis Nwifuru, represented by his Commissioner for Skill Development and Job Creation, Mr. Okwu Oko Udu in Abakaliki, the State Capital.
The Director-General, Malam Abubakar Nuhu, who was represented by the NDE State Coordinator, Don Anaba said during the ceremony that a total of 210 beneficiaries are participating in the training.
Anaba said; “the beneficiaries of Graduate Attachment Programme, GAP were 75 participants, Environmental Beautification Training Scheme, EBTS were 60 participants and the Enviroprenuership Development Scheme, EDS were 75 beneficiaries.”
All these training schemes are under the auspices of the Special Public Works Department of NDE
He said; “I want you to be serious with this training, EBTS Promotes Environmental Renewal in habitats in urban and rural areas, particularly in towns and cities where offering skills in aesthetic, protection, sanitation ornamentation, finishing, and employability skills.”
The EDS
The DG through the State Coordinator said that one of the major Objectives of the scheme is to impart the skill of recycling existing wasted materials and resources to the unemployed youths for the benefit of the present and future generations.
“It is to improve the Standard of living of the participants,” he said.
The GAP
“The main objective of the programme is to improve the employability of the unemployed women and Youths, to build a competent workforce. To expose the unemployed Graduates to workplaces experiences,” Anaba said.
During the flag-off ceremony, the Governor of the State, Mr Francis Nwifuru, represented by the State Commissioner for Skill Development and Job Creation, Mr Okwu Udu appreciated the efforts of the NDE in developing the Youths of the State.
Job Creation
The Commissioner emphatically informed the people during the Ceremony that Ebonyi State Government through his office is currently profiling the unemployed and unskilled youths of the State for immediate training in different skills, as such would lead to self-employment and self-reliance.
“This administration of Governor Nwifuru is centered on ‘people’s chatter of need and as such, it has mapped out programmes that will drastically reduce youth restiveness and some unskilled youths in the State,” Oko said.
He said, “In no distance time, there will be no unskilled youths and Women in the State.”
The Commissioner urged all Ebonyi people to queue into the skill Developmental programme of the State.
The NDE Director of the Special Public Works Department from Abuja the nation’s capital, Mrs. Roseline Olaomi, who was represented by the Principal Works Officer, Mrs. Ezeaku Francisca urged all the participants to show commitment to the training.
She urged them to always be punctual in their Primary places of assignments.
Ezeaku noted that the skill acquisition programme would go a long way in wiping away unemployment in the State and Nigeria at large.
The Head of Department of the Special Public Works Department in the State, Anthony Ogwudu said; “the programme would make you know that any wasted material could be recycled and it would become useful again.”
Mr. Ogwudu urged all the participants in the three programmes to use the opportunity to equip themselves for both present and future
On behalf of participants, one of the beneficiaries, Miss Onyibe Chinaza thanked NDE for the self-empowering and self-sustaining training schemes packaged for the Ebonyi people.
