#EndBadGovernance Protest: Kano Governor Urges Freed Minors to Embrace New Life
Salihu Ali, Kano
Kano State Governor in North-West Nigeria, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has urged the 76 freed minors to turn to new life by refusing any form of temptation to violent protest or hosting of foreign flags.
The governor gave the advice while addressing the freed detainees at the Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital, Kano.
Governor Yusuf, who returned the freed detainees, landed at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano at about 9:50 p.m. local time and proceeded to the hospital for a medical checkup.
He thanked President Bola Tinubu for listening to the outcry of the parents and spirited individuals on the conditions of the minors while in detention. President Bola Tinubu had ordered that the minors be released.
The governor noted that the freed detainees will remain in the hospital for five days to allow medical doctors to conduct necessary checks on their health.

He told them that none of them would leave the hospital until students among them were taken back to classes.
Governor Yusuf said, “We have specialised medical personnel who will look at your health and there are drugs for you to take.
“Before we reunite you with your parents, we will ensure that you are both physically and mentally sound.”
Governor Yusuf told them to understand the gravity of their offenses, which caused a lot of destruction to properties in addition to treason.
“What you did was a treasonable offence because hosting of foreign flags in your own country is big crime, if you don’t know now you know and understand. I urged you to Desist from it.”
Governor Yusuf assured their reintegration into society through school enrollment and provision of opportunities to rebuild their lives.
“We will support those of you with business ideas to start their business and students among you must go back to classes.”
Governor Yusuf reassured that his administration would continue to monitor the well-being of the released minors and provide the necessary support to ensure their successful reintegration into society.
Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shetima had handed over the minors to Governor Yusuf after being discharged by the Federal High Court in Abuja following the withdrawal of charges against them by the Nigerian Government.
