Enugu State Government Sponsors 260 Youths for Agriculture Training
The Enugu State Government has sponsored another batch of 260 youths ,who have a passion for farming, to Nasarawa State for a two-week agricultural training at CSS Global Farms.
Addressing the new beneficiaries before departure at the weekend, Special Adviser to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on Agriculture, Engr. Michael Ogbuekwe, explained that the participants were selected from the 17 Local Government Areas of the state for the training.
The Governor’s aide stressed the government’s commitment in the mission of producing “ next generation of agriculture business men and women in Enugu state,” pointing out that the first batch of 260 youths was successfully trained recently at the same venue.
Speaking on the training, he explained that the participants were “the people that will acquire the skills, technology transfer, and come home to become influencers, innovators and people that would change the narratives of the agriculture sector in the state. “
He said, “The first set went and came back successfully and what we have seen is that there is a need to keep training more and more people. Consequently, our dear Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, decided to send 260 youths for the second batch of the training to learn food production, processing, packaging and marketing of agricultural products. They will see agriculture economics in place. They will see how agriculture businesses are set up from the scratch so that when they come back, they will utilize and maximize every opportunity around them both in the urban and rural areas to earn a living and contribute to the GDP of Enugu State.”
Ogbuekwe, therefore, urged the beneficiaries to show dedication to the training programme, and acquire knowledge that will help them enhance and rebrand their skills in the modern agricultural value chain in the overall interest of the state.
