A lawmaker Mohammed Goje has promised equal opportunities to all those with submissions at the public hearing of the Constitution Amendment in Gombe Centre.
The centre comprises Adamawa, Gombe and Taraba States.
Senator Goje said the public hearing was in various segments, which were taking place simultaneously in all six Geo-political zones and 12 centres across the country.
He is the Chairman of the Gombe North East Centre of the Proposed Alteration of the Provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Delivering the message of the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, who doubles as the chair of the constitutional review Committee, Goje said ”the Nigerian Senate opted for a bottom-up approach and broken into smaller clusters to give more Nigerians the opportunity to express themselves.”
He had before the commencement of the review meeting paid a courtesy call on Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya in the Gombe State Government, where he equally gave the assurances of even opportunity for all to share their views on the issues before them.
The lawmaker encouraged those with no written submissions to come and air their views during the two-day review meeting for Adamawa, Gombe and Taraba States, towards the effective amendment of the 1999 Constitution.
Goje hoped that the process would be completed successfully from the zonal to the National Assembly level, which hoped to be finalised before the legislators’ recess sometime in July this year.
