Equities market returns to bullish territory with N54bn gain

Transactions on the Nigerian equities market returned to the positive territory on Wednesday after two days of consecutive losses as the market capitalisation appreciated by N54 billion to close at N25,411 trillion as against N25,357 trillion recorded on Tuesday.

 

In same vein, the All Share Index inched higher by 0.21% or 99.99 basis points to close at 47,157.23 basis points.

 

The market sentiment also closed positive with 27 gainers relative to 14 losers.

 

Investors exchanged a total of 297.23 million shares with market value of N4.69 billion in 4,661 deals on Wednesday.

 

Top on the gainers table for the day was RT Briscoe with a gain of N0.03k to close at N0.33k, followed by SCOA Nigeria with N0.13k gain to close at N1.50k and Sunu Assurances Nigeria which gained N0.03k to close at N0.39k.

 

Conversely, Juli came out last for the day with a loss of N0.09k to close at N0.82k and it was followed by Multiverse Mining and Exploration with N0.01k loss to close at N0.20k then Sovereign Trust Insurance lost N0.01k to close at N0.23k.

 

The banking sector had the highest volume of traded shares on Wednesday with Acess Bank recording 48.1 million traded shares and it was followed by Sovereign Trust Insurance with 37.5 million traded shares.
