Equities transactions drop further with N196bn loss

It was another day of loss on the Nigerian equities market on Thursday as market capitalisation dropped by N196 billion naira to close the day at N28,255 trillion compared to N28,451 trillion on Wednesday.

 

The benchmark All Share Index depreciated by 0.69 percent or 364.31 basis points to close at 52,411.09 points on Thursday.

 

The market sentiment also closed in the red with 12 gainers and 22 losers.

 

A total of 211.61 million shares with market value of N2.36 billion were traded in 4,750 deals.

 

Linkage Assuarance led the gainers with 9.8% share price appreciation closing at NGN 0.56k, followed by Courteville Business Solutions with 8% price appreciation to close at N0.54k then Japaul Gold and Ventures appreciated by 6.9% to close at N0.31k.

 

Conversely, Conoil was the least on the losers chart as it depreciated by 10% to close at N28.80, followed by BUA Foods with 9.97% loss to close at N53.75k and after it came E-Tranzact International  which lost 9.96% to close at N2.44k.

 

Sterling Bank recorded the highest volume of 63.7 million traded shares for the day and it was followed by Zenith Bank with 17.3 million shares then United Bank for Africa had 17.3 million shares.
