Ethiopia to host 46th CAF Ordinary General Assembly
Ethiopia is set to welcome delegates from across Africa and beyond as it prepares to host the 46th CAF Ordinary General Assembly in Addis Ababa on Tuesday, 22 October 2024.
The event, which begins at 10:00 local time (07:00 GMT), will take place at the Ethiopian Skylight Hotel, a state-of-the-art venue known for hosting famous events.
This year’s assembly marks Ethiopia’s second opportunity to host the CAF Congress, having previously done so in 2017.
With the event set to bring together officials from CAF Member Associations, zonal unions, and global football figures, Ethiopia’s preparations reflect its readiness to be at the centre of African football discussions.
In addition, the SkyTrain Hall, located within the hotel, will serve as the Media Accreditation Centre, operational from 18 October, to facilitate media activities.
A series of zonal union meetings will be held between 20-21 October, including sessions for COSAFA, WAFU A and B, UNIFFAC, CECAFA, and UNAF as well as the meeting of the CAF Executive Committee ensuring all are actively involved in the pre-congress deliberations.
The agenda for the congress day will feature key discussions about the future of African football, followed by a press conference with CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe.
Notably, a friendly match at the Addis Ababa Stadium on 21 October, featuring CAF and FIFA officials and legends, will add a festive touch to the proceedings.
The nation has a proud history of hosting significant sporting events and visitors to the capital, Addis Ababa, can expect to experience warm hospitality, historical landmarks, and a city that is a melting pot of African unity.
