EU, Nigeria Holds Senior Officials Meeting in Abuja

European Union and Nigeria holds Senior Officials Meeting on the 1st and 2nd July 2025 in Abuja Nigeria.

This was disclosed in a statement by the EU Commission in Abuja.

According to the statement, the meeting is inline with preparation for the forthcoming Nigeria – European Union (EU) Ministerial Meeting, which aims to explore areas of cooperation.

The statement also noted that the Senior Officials Meeting will be co-chaired by the Director, Regions, Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Janet Olisa and the Deputy Managing Director for Africa Department, European External Action Service, European Union, Mr Mathieu Briens.

The statement reads: “The meeting is expected to focus on a on various aspects of the Nigeria – EU partnership, such as: “ Cooperation on multilateral and regional issues, Peace, Security and Governance, Humanitarian situation, Trade and Investment, Human Development: Health, Education, Social Protection, Science, technology, innovation and digital transition, Migration and Energy, climate change and green economy transition among others”

Nigeria and the European Union share a deep, long-standing partnership inspired by mutual values and interests as well as support for multilateralism and rule-based international order.
