EU Trade Policy To Mirror Trump’s Import Strategy

The European Union is planning to restrict imports of certain food products produced under different standards in a bid to safeguard its farmers, mirroring aspects of U.S. President Donald Trump’s reciprocal trade policy, the Financial Times reported on Sunday.

According to the report, the European Commission is set to approve a proposal next week to explore stricter import regulations.

The report said early targets could include U.S. crops such as soybeans grown using pesticides that EU farmers are not allowed to use.
