Expert Laments Poor State of Tourism Sites
A tourism expert, Ayodeji Awomoyi, has decried the deplorable state of some tourist sites across the country, urging the Federal Government to consider concession to private operators for proper management.
Awomoyi, Principal Executive of Flyzone Tourism, said this during a news conference on the launch of the company’s visa assistance centre, on Wednesday in Lagos.
He advised the federal government to improve on tourism destination management to attract tourists.
According to him, for a destination to be considered viable, it must possess certain essential qualities.
He said these qualities included being visually appealing, easily accessible, and offering amenities such as accommodation, activities, as well as other attractions.
Ayodeji said that the centre was created to properly educate and guide visa applicants on travel as well as visa options.
According to him, the reason many visa applicants are denied visas is due to lack of knowledge on the destination they intend to visit.
He recommended that travellers thoroughly research their desired destination, to enable them confidently navigate embassy interviews.
