Experts have called for peace, equality, and Justice in a World in crisis, as they brainstorm on a way forward for the universe.
This statement was made during a Joint Seminar with the theme: “MAKING SENSE OF SECURITY IN A TURBULENT WORLD” which was held at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, NIIA Lagos.
Professor Olufemi Otubanjo, a professor of international relations in his speech noted that the whole world is in turmoil and that this will continue l because of the challenges of civilization.
Professor Otubanjo said that Ideological differences which fuel conflicts and wars are appearing as one of the major reasons for conflicts in different parts of the world.
The fundamental source of conflicts in the real world today is not primarily economic divisions among humans or even the superpower syndrome, but the dominant source of conflict destabilizing the whole world is cultural divisions, Professor Otubanjo stated.
One of the speakers and a Senior Research Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Dr. Joshua Bolarinwa said that the whole world is affected by turbulence economically and security-wise.
Nations according to him should tighten their belt by not overspending on what is not relevant and governments should generate employment for their people, and improve Education and infrastructure so as to reduce crises within their borders and the world at large, Dr. Bolarinwa said.
Similarly, the Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Professor Eghosa Osaghae said that security is very important at this time, one should walk freely, and do things freely without being afraid of what will happen to them, noting that fear hinders development.
Global Communities should endeavor to beef up security and to partner with one another in other to mitigate the current security challenges. Professor Osaghae urged.
