In a powerful demonstration of compassion, empowerment, and prophetic purpose, Prophetess Ruth Moji Obasa has inaugurated the Africa chapter of the Jesus Women International Prayer Movement, reaching over 200 women and families in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Held in a spirit of prayer and humanitarian service, the outreach featured the distribution of high-quality clothing and food items worth over ₦2 million to women in need.

The clothing—weighing over 120 kilograms—was donated by members of Obasa’s congregation at the Church of England in the United Kingdom and personally transported to Nigeria by the founder herself.

“These are not rags or leftovers; these are clothes you’d find on Banana Island,” Obasa stated.

“They were given with dignity, and we’re delivering them with love.”

The event also saw the unveiling of Obasa’s new book, The Jesus of Oxford, marking a symbolic homecoming for the UK-based cleric, who shared that she was divinely instructed to return to Africa after more than 30 years in ministry and academic service at the University of Oxford.

She recounted that the Jesus Women International Prayer Movement began with a divine visitation during her childhood and was formally launched in 2011 in Nottingham, UK.

Since then, it has grown into a global prophetic and healing ministry, with a strong focus on prayer, women’s empowerment, and social intervention.

“The Jesus Women International Prayer Movement is rooted in prayer and prophetic ministry, but we are also tackling real-world issues like poverty, domestic violence, and trauma,” she explained.

Faith in Action

In addition to launching the African chapter in April 2025, Obasa’s ministry has founded an NGO addressing domestic violence and initiated quarterly food and clothing drives. According to her, nearly 200 women have already benefited from these efforts in Nigeria.

“To date, I have spent almost ₦50 million of my personal funds, including money I had saved to buy a house, just to pursue this vision,” she revealed.

“The gospel is a gospel of love, and giving is at its core. We’re not just praying; we’re providing. We want to remind people that miracles are real, and hope is still alive.”

The event also included the announcement of a free trauma healing training, to be facilitated by a lecturer from the University of Oxford, with plans to extend outreach to internally displaced persons (IDP) camps and vulnerable communities across Nigeria.

Obasa noted that the ministry is open to collaboration with government institutions, having already sent over 200 letters to various agencies, governors, and stakeholders across the country.

“You can’t rely on the government for everything. This is our country, and we must rise and rebuild it together—with prayer, prophetic guidance, and love in action,” she urged, calling on Nigerians in the Diaspora to give back.

Movement Gathers Support

The launch attracted prominent Christian leaders, many of whom hailed the movement as a divinely inspired response to Nigeria’s spiritual and socio-economic challenges.

Bishop John Oyedeji described the initiative as a “consistent source of hope for struggling women,” stating:

“Since she arrived in Badagry, she has touched many lives. A lot of hope came alive.”

Prophet Samuel Ifeoluwale underscored the need for prophetic voices in national development, urging government collaboration with spiritual leaders:

“The prophets are God’s mouthpiece in times of trouble. We must embrace spiritually rooted solutions.”

At the book launch, Reverend Professor Sonde Bobayagang, Head of ECWA Theological Seminary, Jos, praised The Jesus of Oxford as “an excellent testimony of the power of transformation through faith.

“You’ll gain so much from it—from testimonies to the changes that God brings to a surrendered life.”

With plans underway to expand the movement to Lagos and other regions, the Jesus Women International Prayer Movement is positioning itself as a force for spiritual revival and social healing across Nigeria.
