An organization committed to spreading love and hope through spiritual and physical assistance, Faithspiration Initiative, marked this year’s Valentine’s Day with a special celebration at the Onitsha Correctional Center in Anambra State. Led by the spiritual director, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. George Adimike, the organization brought joy and a message of love to the inmates, emphasizing the importance of faith and hope during their time in captivity.

Fr. George highlighted the significance of Valentine’s Day as a time to show love to one another, reassuring the inmates that they are not forgotten and that there is hope for a better future beyond their current circumstances.

“We are here because of you; you are part of us. Today is the feast of Cyril, Methodius, and Valentine, but Valentine is more popular because of the life of love he lived for one another. So, we bring you spiritual and physical food. I want to assure you that all of us are equal before the Almighty God. God is good to all of us because He gives us life,” Fr. George said.

“Your stay in the correctional center is temporary. It doesn’t mean that God doesn’t like you. God loves us and takes care of us, which is why the plans of our enemies have not come to fruition. This is a trial period for you. Don’t lose hope because you are in prison. There is still hope for you.

“Remember that many of your mates have died, and you are still alive. This is a good privilege for you. There is hope for you, but God knows why you are here. It’s a matter of time, and I pray that God intervenes for your release in the shortest time possible,” Fr. George prayed.

Fr. George praised the management of Onitsha Correctional Center, particularly the Controller, Chaplain Rev. Fr. Bathlomew Okpalaugo, and Very Rev. Sis. Bennett Ezeoki, for their cooperation in allowing his group to spend time with the inmates. The prison chaplain, Rev. Fr. Bathlomew Okpalaugo, expressed his gratitude towards Faithspiration Initiative, stating that only God could truly appreciate their efforts.

The clergy emphasized the significance of Faithspiration Initiative’s act of kindness towards the inmates, especially during a festive period. He highlighted the practical love demonstrated by the group, akin to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Fr. Okpalaugo specifically commended Very Rev. Fr. Dr. George Adimike, the leader and founder of Faithspiration Initiative, for his dedication to reaching out to the prisoners, expressing his belief that God would continue to bless and support the organization.

During the event, Faithspiration Initiative donated cooked food, tissue papers, detergents, laundry soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and bags of pure water, among other items. The inmates enjoyed the day, dancing and listening to performances by gospel singer Chioma Ezefete and comedian Igwe White, making it a memorable experience for all involved.
