Farming Season: Senator Mustapha pledges to Support Farmers with Fertilizers

In an effort to ensure a robust farming season in Kwara State, North Central Nigeria, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agricultural Production Services and Rural Development, Senator Saliu Mustapha, has inaugurated a committee to support smallholder farmers in the state with the provision of fertilisers to boost their agricultural produce during this year’s farming season.

The committee, is chaired by a former commissioner for Water Resources and one-time chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Kwara State Chapter, Alh Adebayo Ahmed Ayodele.

Part of his responsibility is to ensure seamless distribution of fertilisers to genuine farmers across the four local government areas of the lawmakers senatorial district.

Speaking at the inauguration of the committee, the legislative assistant to the Senator, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulkadir Tunde, said this is aimed at supporting genuine farmers across the senatorial district, adding that the committee would monitor and oversee the distribution of fertilisers.

The legislative aide therefore urged members of the committee to be transparent and upright in carrying out the assignment.

Responding on behalf of other members of the committee, its coordinator, Alh Adebayo Ahmed Ayodele, appreciated Senator Mustapha for the opportunity given to them to carry out the task and promised not to betray the trust and confidence the senator has in them.
