The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the February 2026 Bwari Area Council chairmanship election, Shekwolo Haruna Audi, has sought the support of the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, for his campaign and youth development in the area.
Bwari is one of the six area councils in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) where grassroots elections will be held in 2026.
During a courtesy visit to the ministry in Abuja, Shekwolo said he was there to officially inform the minister of his candidacy and to request a partnership in harnessing the vast youth potential in Bwari, Abuja.
He expressed his desire to build a strong and lasting relationship with the Ministry of Youth Development.
Highlighting challenges in the area, the APC candidate raised concern over the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).
He said Bwari currently has only one registration centre, which has made participation difficult for many residents.
Shekwolo appealed to the minister to intervene by facilitating additional centres.

He also announced plans for a fundraising dinner in his honour, to be organised by the Committee of Youth on Mobilisation and Sensitisation (CYMS), with Obinna Nwaka serving as the director-general of the committee.
He urged the minister to serve as chairman of the occasion and to lend his presence and support.
Renewed Hope Agenda
Shekwolo pledged to align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, assuring that his campaign would not only focus on winning the council election but also on strengthening the APC’s electoral base ahead of the 2027 general election.
Responding, Minister Olawande commended the APC campaign team and the Chairmanship candidate for their vision and leadership.
He described Shekwolo as “the real definition of leadership.” He pledged his support and to also serve as the Chairman of the Fundraising Dinner, assuring, “I am with you, my brother, you are the next chairman of the Bwari Area Council come 2026.
Other members of the delegation were CYMS’s Director General, Chief Obinna Nwaka, APC Chairman of Bwari Area Council, Alh Aliyu Tanko Shere, Hon Kelechi Ugwumba, Kenneth Omeiza, and others.
