The councillor of Wuse ward, Hon. Mathias Aliyu, who is contesting for the seat, expressed his satisfaction about the conduct of the election, stating that the process had been peaceful so far.
After casting his vote in Mississippi Street, Maitama, 022 polling unit at 2: 25 pm, he expressed optimism that the low turnout of voters for 2023 elections will be different.
” This is a local government election, so it’s all about the grassroots; we have been going door to door, house to house to ask people to vote, and you can see people are coming out gradually,” he said.
On challenges with the election, “the only challenge is that people complain that the BVAs, the new method INEC introduced, is rejecting pictures, fingerprints, and we are having problems in some places,” he added.
He urged INEC to work on their system, ” INEC should work on the system where some people go out, and they can’t vote, which is wasting a lot of time and energy. They should work on it before the 2023 general elections.”
