FCT election: Chairman dissociates self from plan protest against APC
By Hudu Yakubu, Abuja
The Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, in the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abdullahi Candido has dissociated himself from the rumoured sponsored protest by him against the APC leadership.
The protest is billed for today (Thursday).
Candido described it ‘a mere figment of imagination of the peddlers.’
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Jibreel Babangoshi, the Chairman expressed surprise over the rumour, saying he only got to know about this through barrage of calls and text messages by concerned AMAC people and friends.
He, however described the protest, if any, as unnecessary and uncalled for, saying there is issue on ground to call for such protest.
‘‘As aChief security officer of the Area Council and a Democrat, I would never descend so low to sponsor such move against my party, when actually I knew that the party chairmanship primary election in AMAC has since been won and lost, with a winner clearly emerged and declared by the party on the spot,” Candido stated.
He therefore urged his supporters and AMAC residents to ignore such insinuations coming from rumour mills and kite fliers.
The Chairman added that this was a form of distraction and plot by those who lost at the poll expecting to benefit from this.
