The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, has assured residents that no sector will be left untouched under the current administration before the end of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s tenure.

Wike gave the assurance on Monday while flagging off new road and drainage projects in the Asokoro Extension District of Abuja.

He said the ongoing infrastructure projects are part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, aimed at repositioning Abuja to compete with leading global cities.

Wike disclosed that the FCT Administration will soon extend its reform and development efforts to the education and health sectors, with the rehabilitation of over 40 schools and new capital projects in health already being planned.

“We’ve touched transport, roads, sports, and education. Now we’re moving to health. No sector will be left untouched,” he vowed.

The Minister urged Nigerians to be patient and supportive, noting that visible progress takes time and resources.

“The Abuja of two years ago is not the same today, and by tomorrow, it will be even better,” Wike said.

He appealed to residents and business owners in the FCT to pay their taxes promptly, stressing that such contributions are crucial to sustaining the ongoing infrastructure revolution across the city and its satellite towns.

According to him, tax revenues remain the backbone of the government’s efforts to provide quality roads, drainage, streetlights, and other public facilities.

“All these good roads, drainages, and streetlights wouldn’t be possible if you didn’t pay your taxes.

“As we say, ‘Dis soup sweet, na money kill am.’ If you don’t have the money to buy the right ingredients, the soup won’t taste good. In the same way, if we don’t have funds, we can’t deliver the kind of city Abuja deserves.” The Minister explained.

Wike stressed that paying taxes is not just a civic duty but an investment in collective comfort and progress.

“When you pay your taxes, you are buying comfort, safety, and pride for Abuja. So, let’s all do our part to make this city the pride of the nation,” he said.

He added that the government remains committed to ensuring that the FCT competes favourably with the world’s leading cities.

“What you see in the developed world isn’t magic; it’s the result of leadership commitment. That is what Mr President has brought to Abuja,” Wike stated.

The Minister, who has flagged off several projects across the FCT in the past ten days — including roads, water projects, and city lighting — said the Asokoro Extension project demonstrates the government’s resolve to develop every part of the capital city.

“Without proper road networks, drainage, and streetlights, life becomes difficult. But by the time these are completed, Asokoro will rank among the most beautiful areas in Abuja,” the Minister assured residents.

Wike also highlighted the employment opportunities created by ongoing projects, noting that construction companies working across the FCT have engaged thousands of youths.

“Everywhere you go, construction is ongoing, and that means jobs for our young people. This is part of the Renewed Hope agenda,” he said.
