The Minister of the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), Malam Muhammad Bello has affirmed the support of his Administration towards the activities of the National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC).
Malam Bello stated this when he received a delegation from the NYSC headquarters led by the Director-General, Brig. Gen. M.K Fadah visited him in Abuja.
Describing him as very capable and competent, the Minister commended General Fadah on his appointment as the 19th head of the NYSC.
Malam Bello further directed the upward review of the number of Corp members in the FCT.
He said, “All my life I have never rejected any corp member. So, we will take in more numbers but we are not going to keep them in the city. We are going to post them to the Area Councils”.
Solicits support
General Fadah thanked the Minister for his kind gestures towards the NYSC, especially for the support provided during orientation exercises and acceptance of corps members posted to the FCTA.
He however appealed for an increase in the number of youth Corps members posted to serve in the FCTA.
Commending the Minister for various development projects across the FCT, the DG solicited the support of the FCTA in the renovation of the orientation camp hall and the overall success of the upcoming NYSC orientation exercise.
Present during the visit were the Chief of Staff to the Minister, Malam Bashir Mai-Bornu, Director Human Resource Management, Malam Bashir Muhammad and Secretary, Social Development Secretariat, Hajiya Hadiza Kabir.
Others were the Director, Special Duties, NYSC, Alhaji Musa Abubakar, the FCT Coordinator, NYSC, Mr. Abdul Suleiman as well as other senior management staff of the FCTA and the NYSC head office.
