The Minister said all these collective dreams of a thriving and prosperous FCT can only be achieved by supporting His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, and working together in unity and cooperation.

“Together, let us embrace 2025 with hope and determination and may this year bring us closer to realising our collective vision for a Federal Capital Territory that reflects the highest ideals of progress and unity.

“Happy New Year once again, and may God bless the FCT and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“As we enter 2025 with renewed hope and optimism, I extend my warmest wishes to you all. And pray that this new year brings peace, progress, and prosperity to every household within the FCT.” Wike stated.

Wike went further to enumerated some of the key achievements over the past 12 months as follows:

“Massive infrastructural development, including the construction of new urban and rural roads, has dramatically improved connectivity and accessibility for residents.

“Rural road development has significantly enhanced economic activities in our rural communities, creating opportunities and improving livelihoods.

“We also prioritized education by rehabilitating several schools, ensuring that our children learn in conducive environments and that the future generation is empowered with quality education

“Our efforts to enhance security which included the provision over 100 vehicles to the various security agencies and implementation of bolder and innovative strategies   have yielded positive results. Residents can now sleep peacefully at night, confident of the safety of their neighborhoods.

“The creation of the Mandate Secretariat for Youth Development and other administrative changes implemented during the year have improved efficiency, accountability, and service delivery, strengthened governance, and made it more responsive to residents’ needs.

“By fostering an enabling environment for foreign and local investments, the FCT witnessed visible economic growth. This has been particularly impactful in rural areas, where infrastructural improvements have sparked economic activities and development.”

The Minister further emphasized their unwavering commitment to building on these achievements as we progress into 2025.

According to him, the focus for 2025 will remain on:

  • Massive infrastructural development, as a key driver of economic growth and improved quality of life will continue
  • Enhancing healthcare, education, and agricultural sectors, ensuring that every resident can access essential services
  • Tackling public transportation challenges through private sector participation, will commence in earnest, easing transportation issues and ensuring smooth mobility for residents.
  • Expanding programs for youth employment and positive engagement to harness the energy and creativity of our young people for the development of the FCT.
  • Meeting our tourism potential
  • Building upon our achievements in the security sector

The Minister urged residents of the FCT to also recognise that sustainable development requires the active participation of all residents.

He urged them to meet their civic obligations by paying taxes, dues, and levies as applicable, as these are essential for generating the revenue needed to fund developmental projects.

Wike then called on the residents to remain committed to ensuring that the FCT continues to stand as the proper Centre of unity, upholding the dreams of the founding fathers.
