As the 2025 Hajj exercise gradually winds down in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has called for sustained synergy with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to ensure improved services for pilgrims.

This was the thrust of a meeting held at the FCT Pilgrims’ tent in Mina, where the Director of the FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Malam Kadiri Edah, received officials from NAHCON on a courtesy visit.

Malam Edah used the opportunity to brief the visiting delegation on the status of FCT pilgrims, confirming that they had so far successfully participated in all core rites of the Hajj.

While appreciating the Commission’s continued support, the Director expressed gratitude to Allah over the safety of Nigerian pilgrims following a recent fire outbreak at one of the hotels housing some contingents in Makkah.

“We are deeply thankful to God that no life was lost in the unfortunate incident,” Edah said, also conveying the Board’s message of solidarity to NAHCON.

Responding, the leader of the NAHCON delegation commended the FCT Board for what he described as “outstanding coordination and professionalism” in managing their pilgrims throughout the exercise.

He praised the Board’s consistent cooperation with the Commission and expressed confidence in their continued partnership.

Both bodies agreed on the need to deepen collaboration and maintain effective communication channels, especially in logistics, healthcare, and welfare, to better serve Nigerian pilgrims now and in future operations.

The 2025 Hajj is entering its concluding phase, with most pilgrims having completed all major rites, including Arafat, Muzdalifah, and the symbolic stoning of the Jamarat.

NAHCON has tentatively scheduled the commencement of return airlifts for Nigerian pilgrims to begin on June 13, 2025.

As the spiritual journey wraps up, stakeholders are turning their attention to evaluation and improvement, ensuring that each pilgrimage builds on the gains of the last—for the benefit of all pilgrims and the nation at large
