The Nigeria Police in the Federal Capital Territory said the Command remains focused of its mandate of safeguarding lives and properties.
The Commissioner of Police FCT C.P Babaji Sunday made this known while parading suspects of armed robbery and other heinous crime in Command.
C.P Sunday said the Command have mapped out strategies to effectively perform its responsibilities especially in view of the ember month.
In this regard, “the command has massively deployed personnel to flashpoints in and around the FCT.
We have intensified vehicular and foot patrols, diligent stop and search operations, intelligence-based crime fighting strategies and constant raids on blackspots especially drug spots” Babaji lamented.
Furthermore, the command has continued to improve upon its community policing strategies by regular engaging the community to provide actionable intelligence for proactive policing within the FCT.
He emphasised that it is worthy of note that one of the command’s recent achievements was the cracking of a notorious car theft syndicate, which was not only achieved by the diligence of the police detectives on stop and search operation, but also by the effort of residents who provided credible information to the police.
However, as the Yuletide season approaches, “I want to appeal to residents to be more security conscious and provide timely information in case of emergency as our emergency lines are in circulation”.
The FCT Commissioner sounded a note of warning to criminal elements within FCT to desist from their nefarious activities or face the full wrath of the law.
Also, wish to reiterate the ban on the use of tinted vehicles and covered number plates within the FCT, as all violators will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
Babaji used the opportunity to reassure FCT residents of the command’s unwavering commitment towards the protection of lives and property within the Federal Capital Territory.
He added by expressing profound gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police IGP. Usman Alkali, the Honorable Minister of the FCT, Mallam Muhammad Musa Bello for their unflinching support towards the FCT Command.
