Voting has commenced at Mississippi Street, Maitama, with 2,651 registered voters present at polling unit Code 022 and the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, who went around the units to ensure an orderly and peaceful election process.
Election materials arrived at 9:35 am, with a low turnout of voters. Voting began at 10:38 am with an INEC official reading out the code of conduct to the electorates.
Polling unit 117, which had two registered voters present, also has a calm atmosphere with security personnel around the area.
Meanwhile, INEC officials at polling unit 04, who arrived at 10.20 am, said they lacked adequate mobilisation, which was the reason for their late commencement.
An Electorate, Aishatu Iyani at the vicinity said, “ I came to vote; I am not happy because I heard they had started the election in other places. They should have started setting up before people arrived. But I will still wait and vote.”
