The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has dismissed reports alleging that all government schools in the Federal Capital Territory would be shut down by November 28, 2025.
It described the claim as “false, misleading, and not authorised by any level of the administration.”
In a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communication and Social Media, Mr Lere Olayinka, the FCTA clarified that “no directive for the early closure of schools was issued” and reaffirmed that the approved academic calendar remains unchanged.
Following the circulation of the false report, the Minister of the FCT Nyesom Wike had ordered the immediate suspension of the Mandate Secretary for Education, Dr Danlami Hayyo.
The Acting Head of Service, Mrs Nancy Sabanti Nathan, has also been instructed to take disciplinary action against the Director of School Services, Mrs Aishatu Sani Alhassan, in line with Civil service regulations.
The administration urged parents, guardians, students, and school authorities to disregard the rumour and continue normal academic activities without fear.
Reiterating its commitment to maintaining safety across the territory, the FCTA assured residents, especially students—of adequate security.
The Minister has also directed the immediate resumption of Operation Sweep and other security interventions across Abuja.
