Authority of the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has declared zero tolerance to insecurity and other related crimes within the nation’s capital.
The Director Admin and Finance of the FCT Security Services Department, Dr. Bello Abdullateef gave the hint in an interview with Journalists in Abuja Nigeria’s capital.
The Director who also assured residents of the territory that the security agent and the agencies are on top of their games to curb the menace of kidnapping, added that the administration is working assiduously with relevant security agencies to ensure zero tolerance to crimes in FCT.
According to him, “So if we agreed that security is a business of everyone then off course there is need for us to Bluetooth on the residents to ensure that the security is guarantee but let me use this medium again to reassure residences that the security agencies are on top of their games and they are working hard to ensure zero tolerance to crimes and criminality in FCT”.
Abdullateef also revealed that the FCT Security agencies have mobilised more personnel to contain most of the wanton security developments within the city.
He speak further that, “I think we have to look at it from two perspective, from the internal security arrangements within the FCT and from the suburbs of the FCT where we have prevalence of criminality like kidnapping. From within, I can reliably tell you that the situation is calm given the period under review. And if you move around the city you will see this development for yourself.
” But within the suburbs particularly the Area council there are notable among the area council that being in the media within Kuje and Bwari Area Council where incidents of kidnapping have been recorded“, he added.
The FCT Director of Admin and Finance further stressed that the administration in collaboration with G7 state are working on to address the menace of kidnapping within the city and it’s neighbouring states.
“Because most of the activities of kidnapping even though there are one or two exercise going on to ensure the unsettled criminal elements but the major one is being prepared for and I am sure in view of this ember period they will quickly put an action so that we push all this criminals out of the FCT entirely”, Abdullateef said.
He emphasized that, “You know what you have as criminality is mere symptoms of security in a wider perspective because if somebody is not employed that person is not secure, if people feel that their welfare, their right is not properly address, they will feel insecure.
” So security in itself is a generic term lack of protector so if you say, lack of economic situation in the country it could be the reason why we have high rate of incidents of crimes but we are not out of place.“
