FCTA impounds 69 Commercial vehicles for Traffic Violations

A combined team of Task Force personnel from the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), have impounded sixty-nine commercial vehicles operating in different locations in the City Center for various offences that bother on traffic violations.

The exercise is an effort to clean the city of illegal operators of Commercial vehicles and improve security of lives and properties in the capital city.

Speaking to Journalist during the exercise, the Director, FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Service (DRTS), Abdulatef Bello, noted that the vehicles impounded committed various offences ranging from wrong parking, ricketier vehicles, non-plate number used by one chance operators among others.

Bello noted that the Administration will not rest in its effort to ensure the city is clean from nuisance.

He added that the sixty-nine vehicles arrested will be prosecuted by FCT mobile Court sitting in the premises of the Directorate of Road Traffic Service, DRTS.

According to Bello, three commercial vehicle operators alleged to be one chance arrested will be handed over to the police for prosecution, adding that the ineffective mass Transportation arrangements were the major cause of ongoing criminalities in FCT.

The Director, Department of Development Control of the FCTA, Muktar Galadima, who described indiscipline as a major contributor to the high rate of criminalities know as one chance, noted that the administration will continue to sensitize road users on the need to effectively make use of over forty taxi ranks provided by FCT Administration in the city center.

Displaying a sharp object seized from one of the arrested alleged one chance operator, Secretary Command and Control Unit, FCT Administration, Mr. Peter Olumuji who adviced road users to make use of the taxi ranks provided by the Administration noted that the combined Security operatives in FCT are working hard to eradicate one chance operations in FCT.

The two alleged one chance operators arrested were found packed by the road side in the vehicle with no plate number and a weapon found with them but they denied being one chance operators.
