As part of efforts aimed at improving academic performance of students and service delivery amongst teachers, authority of the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has launched a strategy tagged ‘Balancing of the Subject Teachers Intervention Strategy’.

While launching the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) zone of the scheme, the Director, Secondary Education Board (SEB), of the FCT, Dr Sani Ladan explained that the re-strategizing intervention becomes necessary in order to balance subject teachers across the Six Area Councils and reduce teachers complaints on transfer from a closer school to a distance school which results in inadequate subject teachers in one school and more than enough in another school.

Dr Ladan stated that the strategy came to the fore when he assumed office and was confronted with incessant complaints of shortage of some subject teachers and transfers.

He added that the issues were discussed with resolution of embarking on the balancing of subject teachers intervention.

According to him “thinking outside the box to ensure the teaching and learning process in FCT Schools remain effective and achieve its purpose of remarkable academic performance while balancing the teaching subjects teachers in all the Area Councils”.

He noted that, the strategy is one of the many strategies to be unveiled to further guarantee academic excellence and encourage teachers passion for the teaching profession while operating in a conducive learning environment.

The Director also revealed that, “the initiative will also help in solving any noticeable academic gaps or situation and help teachers know what is expected to teach students in their various subjects specialization, adding that it will also help them to update their knowledge, facilitating the subject teaching as well as identify subject challenges and the way out among others”.

He urged the Teachers to key into this subject teachers intervention initiative and balance their various subjects specialization as it will also reduce their distance school stress and boost their morale for result oriented teaching and learning process.

Ladan reminded all the participating schools and principals under each zone to sustain the initiative as it will ease their teaching subjects challenges.
