FCTA redesigns Mass Education programme to improve literacy

Authority of the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) said it has redesigned the Mass Education programme to improve on the literacy.

The Director, FCT Department of Mass Education, Hajia Hajarat Alayande disclosed that the mass literacy has been scaled up it activities from ordinary literacy to skill acquisition.

She explained that the administration had rebranded the mass literacy in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s plan to lift 10 million people especially children from poverty.

Mrs. Alayande stated this during the 2022 International literacy Day in Abuja, tagged: ‘Transforming literacy learning spaces; exploring opportunities, possibilities and creativity.’

According to her, the FCT Mass Education Department was also in talk with the Joint Admission and Metrication Board (JAMB) to  host  CBT centres.

She explained that  the success recording in mass literacy was through the tireless efforts of the current minister of FCT, Malam Muhammad Bello.

Mrs. Alayande said the award conferred on the department by the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and non – formal Education at the just concluded 56th International literacy Day, would spur the agency to do more.

In FCT we have rebranded literacy, there is digital literacy in place, all the Area Councils have a hall of 160 seating capacity.

“Very soon, we are going to partner with JAMB to host CBT exams, when we finish remodeling of the three centres as redesigned by the JAMB management it make people proud of the training. FCT is on top of rebranding to meet up with the current realities.
