FCTA seeks support for Hajj Commission

The Nigerian Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, through it Muslims Pilgrims Welfare Board has implore all stakeholders in the Hajj industry to continue to give the Commission the maximum cooperation they need in order to take Hajj Management to a greater height.

The Director of FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mallam Muhammad Nasiru Danmallam gave the advice while felicitating the Commission over the appointment of it new Secretary of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, Dr. Abdullahi Rabi’u Kontagora.

The Director noted that the board is optimistic that with this appointment, the Hajj family would continue to witness positive transformations in the Nigeria Hajj industry.

He added that they will also continue to pray for his successful tenure and solicit for rebranded good working relationship between the commission and the entire Hajj stakeholders in the country and the world at large.

According to him, “Indeed, words cannot express our happiness over this appointment and we are sure that the new secretary would continue to play his role in the development of Hajj at the National level leveraging on his experience which spans over two decades at the FCT MPWB. 

Therefore, it is our collective hope and prayer that Dr. Abdullahi Rabi’u Kontagora’s antecedents would continue to be of immense benefit to the Nigerian Hajj industry while he serves in his new capacity.

It is germane to note that his success in the selection process didn’t come as a surprise to staff of the Board considering his track record in the transformation of Hajj operations at the FCT MPWB,” he said.

The NAHCON 4th board at its extraordinary meeting in October, did its final selection from which Dr. Abdullahi Rabi’u Kontagora, North Central, emerged chosen.

Kontagora PhD, assume office in November 2021. An indigene of Niger state, the new appointee holds a doctorate in International Relations from University of Abuja after bagging an MSc. in same field, same University.

His first degree was in Political Science, University of Abuja and holds an NCE certificate in English/Government from Federal College of Education, Kontagora.

He is author of several books and academic papers among which are Manners and Morals During and After Hajj; Hajj Administration and Planning in Nigeria: A Case Study of FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board. Dr. Kontagora wrote his dissertation on the topic, Nigeria-Saudi Arabia Relations: A Focus on the Activities of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria.

Before his appointment, Dr. Rabi’u Kontagora had served in the FCT/Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board in various capacities from 1995 to date. He speaks Hausa, Arabic, and English languages.
