The Nigerian Federal Capital Territory Administration has frowned at the situation where Companies and organisations with foreign nationals operating within the FCT without remitting or paying tax to the Internal Revenue Service.
In a statement signed and made available to journalists in Abuja by the Head, Corporate Communication of the FCT-IRS, Mr Mustapha Sumaila, the territory requested such companies and organisations to forward the details of expatriates to the FCT Internal Revenue Service for proper documentation.
The Statement noted that, this was part of the resolution reached in a meeting between, the Secretary of Economic Planning, Revenue Generation and PPP in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Mr. Agboola Lukman Dabiri, and the Acting Executive Chairman, FCT-IRS, Mr. Haruna Abdullahi in continuation of ongoing efforts to harmonise and enhance the Internally Generated Revenue of the FCT.
The statement advised concerned organisations to promptly comply with the directive not later than the end of May 2023.
It said the exercise is compulsory and should be taken with utmost importance by firms and organisations with expatriates working under them within the Federal Capital Territory.
