The Federal Executive Council has approved the creation of the Federal Ministry of Regional Development to oversee all the regional development commissions such as the Niger Delta Development Commission, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission and the North East Development Commission.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga made this known on Wednesday via his verified X handle.
Mr Onanuga also said that “the Council approved the scrap of the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta and the Federal Ministry of Sports Development.”
He said that “the National Sports Commission would take over the role of the Ministry of Sports.”
The FEC also approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy.
