Federal Executive Council pays tribute to former Lagos State Governor, Jakande

The Federal Executive Council (FEC), has observed a minute silence in honour of former Lagos State Governor, Lateef Jakande, who died recently.

At the commencement of Wednesday’s proceedings, being presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, called on Cabinet members to stand in honour of the departed Jakande, who was a former Minister.

Alhaji Jakande served in the Federal Executive Council between November 1993 and March 1995 as Minister of Works and Housing.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari is presiding over the 34th virtual meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha and Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Gambari are physically attending the meeting, which started at 09:00 GMT.

Six Ministers are physically attending the meeting. They are those of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, Finance, Zainab Ahmed, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen, Federal Capital Territory, Mohammed Bello, and Suleiman Adamu, Water Resources.

The Head of Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan and other Ministers are participating in the weekly council meeting from their various offices in Abuja.
